Russian President Vladimir Putin has landed in the Crimean city of Sevastopol, the Kremlin press office said.

Vladimir Putin has landed in Crimea for his first visit since it was annexed by Russia, the Kremlin has announced.

The Russian leader is expected to oversee a massive military parade in the historic port city of Sevastopol commemorating victory over Nazi forces in the Second World War.

Earlier in the day, thousands of Russian troops marched in Red Square to mark 69 years since victory in the Second World War in a show of military might amid tensions in Ukraine following Moscow's annexation of Crimea.

My Comment: Putin's visit to Crimea is going to stoke anger from the Ukraine government and from the West .... and galvanize pro-separatist forces in eastern Ukraine.
