Merkel Says U.S. Spying Allegations Are Serious -- Reuters

(Reuters) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Monday allegations that a German man worked as a double agent for U.S. intelligence were serious and, if true, were a clear contradiction of what cooperation between partners is supposed to be about.

The case risks further straining ties with Washington, which have been sorely tested by revelations last year of large-scale snooping on Germany by the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA).

"If the reports are correct it would be a serious case," Merkel told a news conference in Beijing, standing next to Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.

She's had her phone allegedly hacked by the NSA.

There have been other reports that the NSA have been spying on Germany via other methods.

The NSA have conducted wiretaps at Summit meetings.

And now this, and she calls it a serious contradiction of what cooperation is about?

I can understand the policy of 'Forgive & Forget' in politics, but she's taking it to a whole new level.

No doubt Miss Merkel will 'forgive' in a few days time and this whole thing will blow over.

Sigh...

This is BS in part.

The Europeans are spying on the U.S.

If they aren't I would say that Britain is not followed by Germany.

France has definitely spied on America, if for no other reason for economic espionage.

Switzerland is not spying us. But it is do in part to no money, no interest or something. They are considering their Air Force. The are relying on "herd immunity"

Many other European nations are not spying because they are relying on the American umbrella (during the Cold War), her immunity or poverty. It is not because they are particularly virtuous. After all they are homo sapients.
