Russian Approval Of Putin Soars To Highest Level In Years -- Gallop
Ratings of U.S., European Union leadership sink to record lows, in single digits.
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- President Vladimir Putin's popularity in Russia is now at its highest level in years, likely propelled by a groundswell of national pride with the annexation of Crimea in March on the heels of the Sochi Olympic Games in February. The 83% of Russians saying they approve of Putin's leadership in late April/early June ties his previous high rating in 2008 when he left office the first time.
The 29-percentage-point increase in Putin's job approval between 2013 and 2014 suggests he has solidified his previously shaky support base. For the first time since 2008, a majority of Russians (73%) believe their country's leadership is leading them in the right direction. This renewed faith is apparent in their record-level confidence in the country's military (78%), their national government (64%), and honesty of elections (39%).

My Comment: Among all of my Russian family members, friends, and associates .... I can state unequivocally that they are all supportive of Putin. The only person that I know who is a critic of his policies is .... me. Sighhh .... this is not the first time that I have been banished to the wilderness .... nor will it be the last. What can I say .... faced with international criticisms the Russians are now circling the wagons .... and this is not going to change in the foreseeable future. Putin's weakness has always been the economy, but even here many Russians are giving him a pass.

President Obama Comments On The Malaysian Flight MH17 Disaster
"I expected a tougher speech .... but it was nowhere near that."
Putin is a more honorable man than Obama. There is a greater probability of Putin of being a good American President than Obama being one.
First of all Mr. Smith, you are a fool, but that is self-evident by your above comment.
Second, as you stated it's not uncommon for any nation to circle the wagons when international condemnation comes down on your head. Russia, however, makes this a work of art. They have had to do it throughout their history, often for good reason. This cultural paranoia and xenophobia has been on of the more vexign things about the Russian psyche, especially since they have so much to offer the world.
It's a shame, really, since this could easily spiral out of control.
Pretty much, I find it hard to think of any nation that won't rally at least a little when faced with outside opposition. It's not always rational, far from it, but I think the instinct itself is both natural and healthy - it means we're not quite as desocialised and alienated from each other as it may seem. So long as it does not lead to an actual war where there would be none, I'm inclined to regard it as a good thing; as for our internal politics, we have far bigger problems than that.

What happened here. Being pugnacious I wanted a fight and I got one.
I did not say much. If a person thinks Obama has zero credibility and honor, then saying that Putin has greater than zero honor is not saying much at all.
Putin has said that the break up of the USSR was one of the great tragedies of history. Putin is an irredentist. It is pretty straight forward what Putin wants.
I don't trust Putin as far as I could throw him and I cannot throw him. He is much better at judo.
I would trust Putin to run America better than Obama. If Putin was in charge he would not erase the southern border for starters. There would be mass technology transfer (if there is anything left), but we had that under Clinton.
Obama who believes that the founding if the U.S. is one of the world greatest tragedies.
