The Pentagon Is Adding To Its Arsenal Of Weapons In Norway’s Caves -- Washington Post

In the heart of Norway’s countryside, the U.S. military is bolstering its arsenal of weapons with tanks, gun trucks and other armored vehicles along with hundreds of containers of equipment.

The Marine Corps is overseeing the effort, which expands the existing Marine Corps Prepositioning Program. It stashes weapons, vehicle and armor in several locations across the world, including Norway, which first signed an agreement with the United States to do so in 1981, Marine officials said.

The equipment is kept in climate-controlled caves in central Norway, giving the Marines equipment that is closer than the East Coast to use in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Much of what stored in the caves was pulled out and sent to the Middle East ahead of the March 2003 invasion of Iraq.

I hope this military equipment will not be needed. Norway will have many problems defending itself since our military is very limited, it have very little combat experience with the exceptions of volunteers to Afghanistan. Our government also wants to close more of our military airports for example near i live its a military/traveling airport which some of it is a military air base where some helicopters are stored and the majority of the airport is for civilian travel. Its in Rygge kommune or district in English, the military base on the airport is going to get shut down, its a shame since we don't have many military airports any longer. I think Norway just have 4-5 military airport, we have one in Oslo Gardemoen but its mostly used for travel but their is still stored some military planes there. And one questions if its going to be war in a country does the risk for death increase if you live near a military base or is it safer to live near a military base?

Depends how close you are Rhaegar. In an air attack, it'll happen and be over before you know it and you'd almost have to be right next to the individual target, not much worry.
Ground attack, anywhere within 30 miles a big worry, especially for you Rhaegar as I believe you are a young male near military age. If you're out and about the other side probably won't take time for an ID check, they'll just shoot you and go on.

Thanks for the info, i am 15 years old and we in Norway get 1 year conscription when we are 18 or 19 years old, its mandatory for males but females can chose. But for those who dosent want to be in the military its easy to leave and many people fake sicness or do other things and get sendt home. And thank you for giving me info on attack radius. And if yhere is a groind attack i am inside the radius we live 10-15 miles near the military airport. So if there is war sometime in the futute i better find a bunker or move further away from any military bases. And one question in how good health does one need to be to work in the military? I have always wanted to work with computers and i think if i can help the military with technical equipment and do something usfull instead of working for a capitalist corporation. I know that in Noway people are becoming more inactive and i am one if them, but i am now taking daily walks so i am in a bit better shape, so i dont walk in dwarf speed any longer.

"Dwarf speed" that's a good one! so much to address in your last comment. Walking is good, keep doing it every day and a little more each time.
Rhaegar if there is a really big shootout the first things to get hit will command and communications. Hence a lot of dead computer specialists. That doesn't mean you shouldn't serve, but that will be the reality. You should serve, you'll feel better about yourself then and especially later.
To get in some physical shape you don't need to go a gym or spend a lot of money. Find out what correct pushups and situps are and start doing one each, just one. Then the next day do one more each until you can do twenty at once, it's not as hard as you think. On your walking, be able to walk 8 kilometers as a goal. Try this and in a month you'll be surprised at where you are in fitness. sounds like you Norse guys have gone quite aways backwards since you to chase around rob and kill my Irish religious ancestors. A final word on computer war games. They're have their good points, but when you play you are usually well rested, fed, and nice and secure in your own house. In reality think about how you would do if you haven't slept well for more 3 hours in a couple of weeks or eaten a third of the food you normally do in that time, and had people trying to kill you on a 24/7 basis. Your decision skills and basic behavior would be very different.

Thank you for the info James, this will be very helpful. I hope i have god enough health to get in the military, i have bad eyesight so i use glasses and i alto have a diagnosis it's called high functioning autistic. Does this hinder me or can i still get conscripted? and one other question, in Ukraine i have seen many pictures where soldiers sit in tanks with a bottle Cola or soda, is this normal procedure or does most soldiers drink water?

Hah1 At some point soldiers drink or eat whatever they can get their grubby little hands on.
On your eyesight and autism as a deterrent to being in the service. Don't let those things stop you, just be the best you can be, the rest will take care of itself.

Thank you :)

So are you going to try the push up and sit up regimen? If you do keep posting your progress. Remember, you don't want to be that person that others need to expend energy on to care for. You want to be one of the ones who can help others.

Rhaegar said...

I shall try my best, where shall i post about my progress?

James said...

Right here.

I meant anywhere on this site. I'll be watching.

Ok, how important is my diet? I am a bit glad in cola and drink some glasses everyday, does that have a bad impact or does the walking compensates for it? Ben a bit better to drink water lately, it must be ice cold, are a bit picky, that's one of the problems being a autistic since some food i cant eat without being very hungry. Is that a problem if i get in military duty or shall i just bring a packed lunch?

James said...

First Rhaeger, if you exercise you'll become hungry. You're a fifteen year old male. Your body is naturally burning sugars etc at a higher rate, so don't worry about the colas too much. The important thing is exercise, do that and your body will tell you what it wants, you'll start to want to eat things that you've never had before. Also you may surprise yourself on how different you become, not just physically, but mentally too when you start to get in better shape.
Alright: one pushup and situp today, two pushups and situps tomorrow, Three....
Time to stop talking and start doing!
