White House Withholding Details On Operation To Rescue US Hostages In Syria -- RIA Novosti
WASHINGTON, August 21 (RIA Novosti) – The US authorities are not planning to release details on the recent operation, aimed at rescuing American citizens held captive by the Islamic State militants in Syria, the Assistant to the US President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism said.
“Given the need to protect our military’s operational capabilities, we will not be able to reveal the details of this operation,” Lisa Monaco told journalists early on Thursday.
According to the US Department of Defense, the United States has recently made an attempt to rescue hostages, held by the Islamic State against their will in Syria. The operation, however, failed as the hostages were not present, Pentagon said in a statement.

My Comment: The Russian press wants more information on this mission .... but I disagree .... Gen. Jack Keane (above video) is 100% correct when he says that details on this failed mission should never have been released. It gives a heads up to our enemies, and it emboldens others to commit such crimes.

I think it was an ambush and we lured in thinking (and desperately hoping) we had another "kill Bin Laden" moment.
