Report: Obama Delayed James Foley Rescue a Month, Fretting Over His Image And Golfing -- Breitbart

According to a new Sunday Times report by Toby Harden, "Pentagon sources said Foley and the others might well have been rescued but Obama, concerned about the ramifications of US troops being killed or captured in Syria, took too long to authorise the mission."

It's claimed that Obama was concerned about his administration being Carterized had the mission failed.

For President Barack Obama the decision to send in the Night Stalkers was an agonising one. The audacious bin Laden raid in Pakistan had been a success but also preying on his mind was the failed 1980 Delta Force operation to rescue American hostages in Tehran. Sandstorms and mechanical troubles led the mission to be abandoned and eight American troops were killed when two aircraft collided. The debacle cast a shadow over Jimmy Carter’s presidency.

My Comment: This is the difference between Putin and Obama. Putin would not have hesitated .... he would have accepted the very real possibility that hostages and soldiers would be killed .... but he would be at peace with himself knowing that this would be the right thing to do .... to stop the suffering of someone who does not deserve to suffer one day longer. President Obama .... a totally different mindset in a totally different political environment .... image and his need to come to terms with himself that failure may be the end result .... this is the perception that he is always giving when it comes to making major national security decisions. He is someone who clearly needs to take his time, and this is why some of his decisions show indecisiveness .... and in the James Foley case .... glaringly so.

it mayh well be the difference between an elected official with manhy concerns and a guy runnin g a nation that is turning despotic. But the non sense playing golf is pure bullshit...It is not ok for the president to take time out but ok for congress to have well over a month off? Bush took much much more time off and somehow still managed to lead us into a useless war and to plunge us into a recession

Useless War?

Legally Bush43 did not start a war with Iraq, because the old one never ended.

An armistice is not an end to a war. It is more like paying earnest money. After you pay earnest money a deal to close on a house can go south.

The armistice in WW1 went into effect on November 11, 1918. the actually peace treaty, The Treaty of Versailles was signed 28 June 1919. This is 7 months later.

Having your planes lit up by radar is not fun. If you think it is something that people have to put up with because they signed up for the job that is whacked. Calculate given plane altitude and missile speed approximately how long a pilot has.

Weapons inspections that look more like an episode of Keystone Cops is not living up to an armistice.

Useless is throwing away the gains.

You have to admire jihadis in one way.

They vote with their feet. They are not hypocrites >> those that went to Syria.

Just saying.
