As Showdown Looms, Humanitarian Situation Worsens in Eastern Ukraine -- Voice of America

As Ukraine promises to deny entrance to a convoy of nearly 300 Russian trucks carrying what Russia says are aid to civilians in Russian-speaking eastern Ukraine, the humanitarian situation is worsening in the region's besieged cities of Donetsk and Luhansk.

As the Russian convoy nears the border, Ukrainian and Western officials fear that Moscow is planning to exploit a worsening crisis in east Ukraine by cloaking a military mission in the guise of a humanitarian aid convoy.

Something is going to happen with this convoy. Either Kiev lets it through giving Russia a PR coup and a provision of non-lethal support which will certainly help the rebels, or they stop it, giving Russia a casus belli. Those in the media saying it is a literal trojan horse are fools; Russia needs no such subterfuge to succeed in a military operation. What it does do is put the Ukraine government in a no-win situation.

This makes more sense, thank you. Thought myself the convoy was a troyan horse but i was wrong. I think Kiev will try to stop it since they have said that they will not allow that this convoy crosses the border. But one thing i am unsure of is that there are some news that the convoy has split in two one part is going to Kharkov and another part goes to Luhansk, if the convoi going to Luhansk crosses the border using a pro-Russian controled checkpoint it can bring more then enaugh supplies to the pro-Russians to endure a siege and get some PR too, a win win situration for Moscow. But i still think that a invation will be the scenario when the Ukrainian army storms Donetsk since Putin will not lose his infuence over Ukraine and lose "face". The most likely scenario i think would happen is that when the army storm Donetsk Russia will invade and push back the ATO operation and then deploy peace keeping troops so the pro-Russians can act as a "de-facto" country. This will benefit Russia since if they annex Eastern Ukraine or take over the whole country it would cost to much. So if Russia split Ukraine in two Russia would achieve a Transinstria scenario which i think is what Putin wants.
