Ukraine's Army Is Now Claiming That They Control The Center Of The Rebel City Of Luhansk

Ukraine Says Army Controls Center Of A Rebel City -- New York Times

DONETSK, Ukraine — The Ukrainian military on Sunday moved into the heart of the separatist hub of Luhansk for the first time, officials said, chipping at one of the cornerstones of the pro-Russia rebels’ disintegrating virtual state.

Ukrainian officials said army units had raised the national flag over a police station in central Luhansk, the eastern city that, along with Donetsk, has been a center of rebel activity and an important destination for Russian fighters and aid. Other parts of Luhansk, however, were still said to be under rebel control.

The claim could not be independently confirmed, though a photograph of the flag and police station was circulating on social media, and the report was consistent with the progress of fighting there going into the weekend.

My Comment: My sources tell me that the Ukrainian army does have a presence in the city. They have taken over the major police station .... but they are surrounded by hostile forces. When the Ukraine army moves it must always be done in force .... individuals are always picked-off. My prediction still holds .... the city will fall (if not already) .... but the big problem still remains .... how can Kiev control a region when much of the population is violently against your presence.

WNU do you disagree with the maps and sitreps at Colonel Kassad showing no isolation of Lugansk and disputing the presence of Kiev's troops there?

There is so much propaganda on both sides it's just impossible to tell what is going on right now.

I rely more on my sources in Kiev and Moscow .... coupled with input from family and trusted friends .... on what is happening in eastern Ukraine. I have looked at the maps .... from both sides .... and I do find them informative. But they do not tell me on what is happening on the ground, the sentiment among the people and fighters, and what are they planning next with the resources that they have (on both sides).

But you are definitely right about one thing Black Knight .... there is so much propaganda on both sides right now that it is impossible to tell what is going on.
