After The White House Released The Details Of A Failed Hostage Rescue Mission In July, Remaining ISIS Hostages Have Since Been Dispersed

Military Source: ISIS Hostages Dispersed After Revelation Of Foley Rescue Mission -- FOX News

After the administration released details of the July mission to rescue journalist James Foley and others in Syria, intelligence suggests ISIS dispersed the remaining hostages to multiple locations, making them harder to locate, a military source told Fox News.

In addition, the source added guard forces around the hostages doubled while widely publicized reporting about the scope of new aerial surveillance in the region caused ISIS to change its pattern of behavior on the ground.

"Any time you (disclose) very highly sensitive tactical information, you're giving away your road map if you will, your strategy," said Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, who as chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee receives regular intelligence briefings. "It's very highly damaging to the hostages."

My Comment: These leaks were done by the White House to show to the American public that they are engaged in trying to gain the freedom of these hostages ....but they have now (probably) imposed a higher cost for future missions.

Because AQI/ISIS/ISIL/IS
didn't know we'd failed
at an attempt and had to
wait for an administration
leak to figure it out?

Shoddy logic.

Maybe . Maybe not.

ISIS might not have known that spec ops had been in the area. I think it is unlikely, but it is a possibility and not a vanishingly small one.

If the spec ops presence was known during or after the fact, ISIS might have thought they were going after another target other than hostages.
Especially, if they had been moved some time before. That assumes that we have conducted missions against them in Syria for other than hostage rescue.

But ofs you bring up a good point to consider.
