The men were travelling in a convoy that included an armoured personnel carrier and two machine gunners mounted on pick-up trucks.
Sky News has filmed well-armed, well-equipped troops, who appear to be wearing recent issue Russian combat gear, operating alongside rebel forces in south-eastern Ukraine.

The vehicles were marked with the white painted circles that signal allegiance to the separatists, but all other insignia and number plates had been removed.
We saw them being waved through a rebel-controlled checkpoint outside the town of Novoazovsk as one of the guards said: "These are ours."
Russian military expert Mark Galeotti examined the Sky News images and noted the white ribbons on the lead jeep and white armbands, which he said Russian security forces often use to distinguish their men.

My Comment: I have been waiting all week for such footage from an independent source (not local/Ukrainian government/or social media) .... and finally SKY News has delivered. On a side note .... it looks like the Russian government and the media are now preparing the Russian public for the news that Russian soldiers have fought and died in Ukraine .... The truth level of the news can always be questioned, not just because of propaganda, or forced missleading, but also because of wrong sources or mistakes made by the journalists. I mainly care about the video and photo contents of these news reports and articles, for me mostly these worth more then the text wroten there. Even independent bloggers make questionable decisions and state "something" while there are no real evidence for that specific thing, and many big media company just handle them as truth. We seen many examples for that, but my experiaces mainly come from the coverage of the Syrian Civil War.
About this article. The painted white dots on the vehicles are "suspicus" a lot. They are very likely are a part of some Russian recon unit. Also during the last few weeks there were many video uploaded where vehicles were operated by the rebels, which vehicles are not in service in the Ukrainian Army, and this is a main proof of Russia supporting the rebels with heavy equipments. The first unquestionable video for me was released just 3-4 weeks ago, where a BTR-82 can be seen operated by the rebels, which is not in service anywere else but in Russian Army. I think it's not a question that Russia is on the ground, but their scale and they orientation is mostly unknown.

Exactly right. No matter how well stage all photos and videos will tell more things than the originators intended, you just have look.
