US Needs ‘Clear Iraq Strategy’, Top Counter-Terror Expert Warns -- The Australian
AUSTRALIA has been urged to insist that the US develop a clear and finite strategy to defeat Islamic State terrorists, ahead of the nation’s involvement in what will be a major and bloody war that could cost Australian lives.
In a blunt warning, the nation’s top counter-terrorism expert, David Kilcullen, said Australians should be under no illusions that their country would play a significant role in a dangerous war to degrade terrorists, even though a detailed strategy for the conflict had yet to be agreed.
“Australians should make no mistake: this is not a training or advisory effort alone; we are going to war and will play a significant role in the coming months or even years,” Dr Kilcullen told The Australian.
“It is a very significant decision and is quite likely to involve Australian casualties.”

My Comment: I have always admired David Kilcullen's ability to look at trends and to formulate military strategy .... it is good to see him speaking out publicly now.
