Putin Says Gas Deal With Ukraine For Winter Months Only, Poroshenko Says No Deal At All -- RT
Kiev and Moscow have failed to resolve their gas supplies dispute, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said after meeting Russia’s leader. According to Putin, only an agreement for winter supplies has been reached, but details are still to be worked out.
“We agreed on the basic parameters of the gas contract,” Poroshenko told reporters in Milan where leaders from Europe and Asia gathered for the ASEM Summit. According to the Ukrainian president, the Ukrainian side is looking for sources of funding to pay off the arrears.

My Comment: Again .... conflicting statements. I guess this is why Putin and Poroshenko are meeting right now.

It must be very frustrating, trying to deal with the Ukrainian Government,
They constantly release conflicting news releases, simultaneously, as if every thing is improvised and yes means no, maybe sometimes yes.
Jay .... the culture and thinking .... you have no idea. My father/grandfather/grandfather/etc. .... they all grew up in Ukraine. I have scores of relatives who still live there. I even lived there for a number of years (Odessa is one hell of a beautiful city). I still have scores of friends there and we are always talking. But bottom line .... they all drive me nuts ... and I endured it for years.
On the other-side of the family (they live in Moscow, St. Petersburg, steppes of Russia, etc.) they are completely different. No means no ... not maybe and yes and then no. Bottom line .... I always know where I stand.
WNU,
Did you notice any Americans in the photos?
Americans???? Who are they?
On a serious note .... this is a European thing .... no Americans wanted.
But the real talking is happening right now between Poroshenko and Putin .... even though it is late in Milan. I hope and pray that at least some understanding for a need to continue the reconciliation process will come out from this meeting.
"no Americans wanted." True, and that is news unto itself.
I think Poroshenko will be very leery of any agreement before the elections that doesn't make him look like a big winner over Putin.
Yup .... good point about the upcoming election. No one wants to look bad.
