Is North Korea Continuing To Dig 'Invasion Tunnels' To The South?

Is North Korea Still Digging Tunnels To The South? -- Paula Hancocks, CNN

Seoul, South Korea (CNN) -- Gen. Hahn Sung-Chu never believed North Korea could dig a tunnel that reached Seoul -- until now.

Standing inside a basement of an apartment block in the heart of the capital, the former two-star general in the South Korean military says, "This is a kind of invasion, North Korean soldiers working underneath us."

Hahn says residents had complained of underground vibrations, but the subway does not run beneath them.

He says dowsers detected three tunnels, 13 to 16 feet (4 to 5 meters) wide at a depth of up to 39 feet (12 meters). His team drilled two bore holes to lower a camera, but before they could, they detected two underground explosions and their drill holes were blocked. Hahn is certain that North Korean soldiers were working beneath their feet, protecting the tunnel.

My Comment: Never underestimate what North Korea is capable of.

If the Jung biography on Mao is anywhere near accurate, North Korea should just surrender to South Korea with the proviso that they have some sort of reconciliation commission like South Africa.

That is the best deal they are going to get.

During the Korean war Kim Il sung begged for an armistice.
1/2 way through the war he had 70,000 soldiers and 1/3rd of the military age males were dead.

Mao and Stalin were using the Korean War to *bleed* America. Mao was using it to kill nationalist soldiers, who had defected to the communists side. It was all well and fine that they defected, but how does one ensure their loyalty?

I have to reconcile this biography with articles I have read on at least 2 points, but it will be worth the effort. So many people fatuously wear Mao T shirts. They just don't get it.

Everything in the biography about the Sino-Soviet trade deals tracks with what my source tells me. So that much if the biography seems accurate.
