Car Bombs Kill 25 Near Iraq's Baquba, Anbar Police Chief Killed On Patrol -- Reuters

(Reuters) - Three car bombs killed 25 people at a government compound near Baquba city in Iraq on Sunday and the Anbar province police chief died on patrol when suspected Islamic State militants blew up his convoy, hospital and security sources said.

Insurgents have been carrying out a wave of bombings as the government continues to fight against IS jihadists who four months ago seized major cities in northern Iraq.

The death toll at the compound in Qara Qubah, 80 km north of Baquba, included both civilians and soldiers, hospital sources said. Another 60 people were wounded.
