To date, more than 60 countries have joined the U.S.-led coalition to counter IS.
WASHINGTON, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama was briefed at the Pentagon Wednesday on the two-month anniversary of the initiation of airstrikes against Islamic State militants in Iraq.
Obama, accompanied by his National Security Council, was briefed by military leadership on the status of U.S.-led military operations in both Iraq and Syria to combat IS, also referred to as ISIL.
