Dempsey Again Cites Possibility Of Sending U.S. Troops Into Iraq Combat -- McClatchy News

WASHINGTON — Less than a week after the Obama administration announced that it would double the U.S. troop presence in Iraq, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff told Congress Thursday that U.S. troops might eventually accompany Iraqi troops to the front lines in their battle to reclaim ground from the Islamic State.

Army Gen. Martin Dempsey’s comments, made during testimony before the House Armed Services Committee, further fueled fears that the U.S. mission in Iraq is creeping toward a combat role for American troops, a prospect President Barack Obama repeatedly has ruled out.

Iraq retakes strategic oil town of Baiji from jihadists

IMO this a big win for Iran not so much for the U.S.

The U.S. spent money assisted the Iraqi government, the Kurds, the Yazidis and yet Iran will come out the winner.

The Iranians have seen an opening and they took it. Since 20011 in Syria and especially in the last 4 months in Iraq they have been reshaping the Iraqi military in their own image.

We can train several or all the Iraqi division. Meanwhile the Iranians are also training them, influencing the leaders and training the militias.

The militias are IMO in some ways the equivalent of the SS and that is where the power lies.

The US lost and Iran won.

We should make sure Kobane does not fall and assist the Kurds.

Whether we keep bombing the Khorasan group or not they will come to us. We should prepare for that.

Save $$$, stop most bombing, and stop paving the way for the Iranians.
