Putin Holds Security Council Meeting Over Ukraine Crisis Deterioration -- RIA Novosti
MOSCOW, November 6 (RIA Novosti) - President Vladimir Putin on Thursday discussed with members of Russia's Security Council a sharp deterioration of the situation in eastern Ukraine caught in a standoff between Kiev-led forces and Donbas militia.
Authorities in self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk republics have reported Kiev's increased military activity on the separation line between the warring sides in recent days in a serious breach of the Minsk ceasefire agreements.
"The participants of the meeting discussed domestic social and economic issues, as well as international affairs, especially the deterioration of the situation in Donbas in light of numerous violations of the ceasefire regime by Ukrainian government troops," Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
Peskov did not specify whether any decisions on the current situation in Ukraine have been made.

WNU,
Who's the guy on the far left?
You have an excellent eye James.
He is Nikolai Patrushev. He is Putin's national security adviser and head of the Security Council of Russia. He is also the "brains" when it comes to Russian national security/intelligence/military. In short .... he is super smart. And like FM Lavrov, when he speaks it should be treated as official Russian government policy.

I should mention that the guy on his left is Sergei Ivanov. He is the equivalent of a Chief of Staff.
Between you and I James .... my mother's maiden name is .... cough cough .... Ivanova.
Ivanova huh! Well now. Looks like I've got some brushing up to do on some stuff. Let me guess did Nilolai come up from the FSB and was he a contemporary of Putin's?
KGB. Friends and confidant for decades. Putin is the politician. Sergei Ivanov was and is the academic. He also speaks fluent English, and has extensive international experience .... but he rarely gives interviews. He understands the West, and I am willing to bet that it is he who is advising Putin on how to handle the West and the U.S. when it comes to issues like Ukraine and sanctions. Understand Sergei Ivanov, and you will probably understand what Russia will do next in places like Ukraine, Baltics, etc..
I know Medevev swapped out PM and President with Putin, so my guess on him is that he must handle domestic political affairs. If he comes out of the Leningrad/St. Petersburg area then a lot of this starts to make sense.
Internal Russian politics is (in my opinion) just as fascinating as U.S. internal politics. And like the U.S., there is a collection of different elites who all have an understanding on who and what everyone is responsible for, and what will they get out of the system. In Russia, these elites are .... the church, the aristocracy and old money/landowners (not all of them were killed off by the communists), the oligarchs and new wealth, and the political class.
WWW 3 MITE BE JUST ABOUT TO COMMENCE AND PUTIN IS FALLING INTO US TRAP THEY WERE HOPN HE WOULD FALL INTO SO THEY CAN INTERVENE MILITARLY RUSSIA NEEDS IF THEY DO ALL OUT SURPRISE ATTACK ON KIEV GOV POSITONS WIPE THEM OUT QUICKLY THEN MOVE INTO AND CONSOLIDATE THEM POSITIONS SO NATO HAS NO CHANCE TO INTERVENE AS THEY REALLY DONT WANT WAR WITH RUSSIA BUT US GOV DOES IF IT STARTS ALL COUNTRIES THAT HAVE SANCTIONED RUSSIA WILL BE FLATTENED BY RUSSIA FOR PAY BACK
