US Military Considers Sending Combat Troops Back To Iraq -- The Guardian
General Martin Dempsey tells House committee that he would consider abandoning Obama’s pledge and send troops to fight Isis in Iraq
The top-ranking officer in the American military said on Thursday that the US is actively considering the use of American troops directly in the toughest upcoming fights against the Islamic State (Isis) in Iraq, less than a week after Barack Obama doubled troop levels there.
General Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, indicated to the House of Representatives armed services committee that the strength of Isis relative to the Iraqi army may be such that he would recommend abandoning Obama’s oft-repeated pledge against returning US ground troops to combat in Iraq.

My Comment: If President Obama agrees to this .... it will be an admission that his Middle East policy has failed.

Yup .... He has a boo boo on his cheek.
"If President Obama agrees to this .... it will be an admission that his Middle East policy has failed."
Not at all. It will mean that he has evaluated a fluid situation and decided that combat troops are needed to support the trainers of Iraqi forces, despite his principled objection and public opinion against sending troops. It would have nothing to do with Middle East policy overall, and would neither be an admission or a failure. Why must your commentary always include negativity about President Obama? And, while I am at it, stop apologizing for President Putin and his thugs in the Ukraine. Now, get off my lawn...
Thank you for your comment firefights101. You are obviously new to this blog. I am not a fan of Putin .... far from it. As to President Obama .... sighhhh ....
Hagel cut himself shaving?
It is almost impossible to cut oneself shaving nowadays unless one is in hurry or agitated of current events.
I wonder if Hagel is agitated about world events, administration policies and political backstabbing.
Didn't some one say his job was being shopped?
