Ukraine Now Admits That Its Gold Is Gone

Ukraine Admits Its Gold Is Gone: "There Is Almost No Gold Left In The Central Bank Vault" -- Zero Hedge

Back in March, at a time when the IMF reported that Ukraine's official gold holdings as of the end of February, so just as the State Department-facilitated coup against former president Victor Yanukovich was concluding, amounted to 42.3 tonnes or 8% of reserves...

... we reported of a strange incident that took place just after the Ukraine presidential coup, namely that according to at least one source, "in a mysterious operation under the cover of night, Ukraine's gold reserves were promptly loaded onboard an unmarked plane, which subsequently took the gold to the US." To wit:

Tonight, around at 2:00 am, an unregistered transport plane took off took off from Boryspil airport. According to Boryspil staff, prior to the plane's appearance, four trucks and two cargo minibuses arrived at the airport all with their license plates missing. Fifteen people in black uniforms, masks and body armor stepped out, some armed with machine guns. These people loaded the plane with more than forty heavy boxes.

After this, several mysterious men arrived and also entered the plane. The loading was carried out in a hurry. After unloading, the plateless cars immediately left the runway, and the plane took off on an emergency basis.

My Comment: I have two friends who are in the Ukraine parliament .... and I asked both of them during the summer if the following report was true .... The Latest Heist: US Quietly Snatches the Ukraine’s Gold Reserves (21st Century Wire).

I am still waiting for an answer .... but Zero Hedge has probably answered it.

The big thing about this is not that the gold was stolen, but that this was done with the goverment's connivance with an outside sovereign entitiy.

I concur James, I have heard rumors about the gold getting stolen by the US, and it now seems that this is confirmed. I think this is a very bad sign that the US Government "stole" most of the gold hope this was a one time event and not something that they do "regularly"

If I remember correctly the British sent their gold reserves to north America for safe keeping during WW2.

(1) Was the gold sent to NYC for safe keeping in case of war with Russia?

If #1 is not true, then why was it taken?

(2) For repayment of outstanding debt? What debt?

(3) For services rendered? in that case Ukraine should sue for fraud.

(4) Was it simply stolen?

Zeroheadge have said that the current physical stocks of gold in the world have been promised to more than 1 party. This is why Germany was not allowed to repatriate all its' gold. If it did then some criminals back in the States would have their con job exposed.

It sounds all very tin foil hat, but the fact remains that Germany asked for the gold, it was slow in getting repatriated and then all shipments stopped.

There are 2 or 3 guest bloggers on Zerohedge that preach a good deal of doom and gloom. They also sell food supplies. Some of are sick of it. Yet, we ignore the obnoxious guest bloggers and keep reading Zerohedge, because the MSM does a crappy job.

Rhaegar,

How could the U.S. steal the gold?

Obama is president.

The U.S. did not "steal" the gold .... they are just .... cough cough .... borrowing it.

It is moments like this that I remember a saying that a business partner once told me on a real estate transaction that ended up badly .... possession is 99% ownership .... if you possess it, you own it. If you do not possess it .... you do not own it.

In the case of Ukraine .... they do not possess this gold .... so hence .... they do not own it.

WNU,

A person or group fo peple can do that.

You can put your thumb on the scales.

But as the mathematician Donald Kingsbury wrote you can only break the rules periodically. You have to do so sparingly or you do not get away with it.

They should not be able to get away with it at all. Holy Hell needs to be raised.

Theft slows down business and business transactions. There is a lack of trust.

I have relatives and in-laws in 2 European countries and 1 Asian country. Arrogance and might makes right does not make for safe foreign travel, safety overseas, prosperity or a lot of other things.

Aizino .... this is one of the reasons why I now live in Canada.

The rule of law, contracts, legal precedence .... these ingredients are essential in making a prosperous and free society. Absent this and/or abuse .... we are no better than living in the jungle.

I have been thinking about getting a foreign passport although it is against the law.

The law seems very selectively enforced.

I had a relative, who was a dual citizen and they were told to make a choice. They were in the military.

Many Mexican Americans And Jewish Americans have dual citizenship and no one bats an eye.

I could be sadly mistaken but using citizenship other than American could get one out of tight places.

Boy you guys can get excited, still I think you'll missed my main concern, which there had to have been high officials in the Ukrainian government in on it for it to have happened. The US is a guess, a good guess, but a guess none the less. Aizino brings up a good point in that why was it taken?

Then you have oddities in the story itself, such as was it 20 tons or 40 tons. Either way that is a lot of weight for 15 people to handle. They state there were 40+ heavy boxes, not 50+. So each box would weigh either close to 2200 kilograms or 4400 kilograms a lot of weight to handle much less transport. Remember a tractor trailer (big semi) generally hauls 88,000 kilos max and this article talks about 176,000 kilos to 88,000 kilos, again a lot of weight for 15 guys to manhandle.

James,

Can't argue with the weight of the gold or the discrepancies in the story,

Can't argue with that would have had to have inside help.

Even if moving the gold for safekeeping was seen as corrupt it makes governing that much harder. If gold in significant quantity was stolen, how do you govern at all?

If there was no wrong doing then a walk through and audit would help. An private auditor would cost of course, but the UN or IMF would be respected hopefully and free. You need to build the trust of the people.

Bingo!
