Warplanes Hit Convoy Near Mosul In Attempt To Kill ISIS Leaders -- CNN

CNN) -- U.S. warplanes attacked a convoy near Mosul in Iraq this weekend in an attempt to kill ISIS leaders, said a spokesman for U.S. Central Command.

Col. Patrick Ryder, in a statement Saturday, said he could not confirm that top ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was in the convoy.

Ryder issued that information in response to news reports indicating the ISIS leader may have died or been injured.

"I can confirm that coalition aircraft did conduct a series of airstrikes yesterday evening in Iraq against what was assessed to be a gathering of ISIL leaders near Mosul, destroying a vehicle convoy consisting of 10 ISIL armed trucks," Ryder said, using another acronym for ISIS.

If these leaders were supposedly converging there why didn't they finish the job with a follow up airstrike?? It's like a bond movie where the villain has an elaborate plan and just assume bond is dead... What a joke

"Why didn't they finish the job with a follow up airstrike?"

Why are we only using 2% of our air assets and not 4%?

The only smart move is that we want other countries to pull their weight and not depend on the U.S.

&

If we crushed them too fast all the usual freak show suspects would say the U.S. is calling the tune and IS was not that bad they just had grievances.

IMHO if Obama is doing it for those reason he is a shrewed man.

If not it is as some of suspect, a dilettante effort, because he could not be bothered. He really just wants to focus on creating the USSA.

I was thinking along the same lines Andrew. When it came to high valued targets in the past, an airstrike was always quickly followed by another to kill off any survivors.

6 to 12 months from now when ISIS is no longer a state, but still a terrorist group on the run and still killing people, ...

There will be some that will say Obama handled the war very well.

They will say there were no boots on the ground and body bags coming home.

Could not we have had ISIS on the run back in June or August and without all the refugees and destroyed infrastructure?

Could not we have had ISIS not have controlled massive areas of Iraq at all?

GWB is not the sharpest tool in the drawer but Barack makes Bush look like lightsaber.

How many of these refugees are going to end up in Europe and Europe can barely keep afloat now?
