U.S. Troops In Europe Ordered Not To Wear Uniforms Off Base -- Washington Times

U.S. military bases in Europe have been ordered to “limit to the max extent possible” instances where personnel wear uniforms off base.

U.S. European Command put out the directive Nov. 10.

“In addition, all personnel should review individual social media account security and geo-location functions/settings to ensure their profiles are not overly revealing,” EUCOM said in a statement, Military Timesreported Tuesday.

Just two days after EUCOM’s directive was announced, U.S. sailors on liberty in Turkey were attacked by the nationalist Youth Association.

My Comment: I guess the rational is .... why make an easy target. But if someone wants to target a U.S. soldier .... they will.

Sorry. I may be OUT of the US Army now, but when I was recently travelling in the UK I made sure to wear as much US Army-related clothing and gear as possible.

They want a hassle? Bring it.

I got nothing but courtesy, respect, and kindness everywhere I went, including wandering around all hours of the day and night all over places like London, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.

But I was hoping...

Good for you! In my time it was so bad some guys took to wearing wigs. But as I used to tell them, no matter how you dress your mannerisms set you apart as military. I used to laugh as I would watch guys unconsciously fall in step with strangers on the sidewalk
