Frontline Handshake: Kiev Army, Militia Meet Amid Donetsk Airport Ruins -- RT

In the wake of the latest ceasefire in war-torn eastern Ukraine, commanders from both sides of the conflict met and shook hands at the wrecked Donetsk airport, agreeing that they do not want the “fraternal” conflict to continue, according to a report.

The Ukrainian army, accompanied by observers from the Organization of Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), delivered supplies to their forces besieged in the Donetsk airport on Friday, LifeNews reported.

Army trucks marked by white flags also delivered 51 soldiers to the airport and took out 48 troops, after the militias allowed the Ukrainian military to rotate forces.

The commanders of the conflicting sides met at the site of the airport – which has been reduced to rubble in the past months – and shook hands, saying that the war must be stopped.

My Comment: Did this meeting occurred ... or is it a fake as some in the Ukraine media are saying .... I do not know. But I do know from my many sources that with the onset of winter the humanitarian crisis in eastern Ukraine is getting worse .... In Donetsk, desperation sets in (Deutsche Welle).

Thank you for the links Jay. After I posted this story, one of my Ukrainian contacts in the government emailed me to tell me that this meeting did occur.

Jay .... both sides are getting tired of this war. And while the federalists are not going to give up .... I am getting some feedback that some are now prepared for a political solution that will recognize their rights within a new Ukraine. On the Ukrainian side .... many of my friends and contacts are totally discouraged .... and they should be. Their leadership has failed them, and with the economy now all but imploding .... the cost of this foolish venture is hitting everyone in the pocket book .... and for those who have loved ones fighting in the east .... a doubly worry that they will be either killed or wounded.

This is not going to be a happy Christmas .... and for both sides.
