Medvedev: Russian Economy Needs Aggressive Approach to Avoid Deep Recession -- Sputnik

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Tuesday that Russia may need to take on more aggressive approaches to the economic situation in Russia in order to avoid falling into an even deeper recession.

MOSCOW, December 23 (Sputnik) – The Russian economy risks falling into a deep recession, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Tuesday.

"If we set more modest tasks before us, then we have risks of falling into a deeper recession than may actually occur," Medvedev said, inferring that the government may need to take on more aggressive approaches to the economic situation in Russia.

Medvedev emphasized that the government is controlling the situation.

Wow. It's not often that I see Medvedev's name mentioned in the news.

In the Western press .... no. In the Russian press .... Medvedev gets as much coverage as Putin. On economic matters .... even more so. I give him kudos for one thing ... he predicted tough economic times when the Ukraine crisis blew up 8 months ago. Unfortunately .... his worst case scenario has become reality.

He certainly has been whistling a different tune. But their relationship has endured the test of time. I guess they both have a storing sense of loyalty towards each other .... for now.
