ISIS's Latest Killing Machine: The 10-Foot Sniper Rifle That Can Fire Bullets Three Times The Size Of A Normal Gun -- Daily Mail

* Isis terrorist photographed aiming a 10-foot rifle out of a window
* The fearsome weapon is thought to fire 23mm calibre bullets
* 'Gun could be effective against lightly armoured vehicles,' says expert

It's so big that it has to be supported on two tripods and fires ammunition that's three times the size of standard rifle ammo.

An Isis terrorist has been photographed aiming a 10-foot long sniper rifle out of a flat window in Kobane.

The fearsome weapon fires 23mm calibre bullets, far larger than the standard size.

My Comment: I am skeptical that such a sniper rifle is effective .... but for propaganda purposes, I suspect that it is already a "hit".

Weapon? I doubt it. Propaganda B+. But there are so many things wrong with this, first the receiver(breech) doesn't seem to exist, there seems to be at least two different caliber shell casing on the floor neither of which look to be 23mm. What does the front tripod really do? What Toyota did the recoil mechanism (spring)come out of? The front and rear sights are strange, etc, etc, etc.

Save some time and effort and just use the tried and true PTRS/PTRD.

Sweet optics, haha. I also like the maneuverability those double mounts must provide. I'll bet he can scram real fast with that rig if the situation gets hairy. Looks like the ejection port is just the right size for a large round (is that a shotgun receiver?) Is that charging handle welded to the side of the receiver? He probably needs a barrel that long to allow the ground match heads enough time to build up enough pressure. That is a fearsome weapon for sure, just imagine how much damage that thing could do if it fell on your foot.

As in Lybia, in Syria, homemade weapons have been constructed for years, to fill both niches, and replace weapons missing from their arsenals. In Lybia, for example, 60mm rocket pods from helecopter gunships, were welded to tripods on the backs of pick up trucks. A truck could quickly pull out from cover, " strafe" the length of the street or a building by ripple firing off the 20 rockets, then quickly back into cover.

ZSU-23's dual mounts, either on their SP carriage, or on the back of a Hilux, are a standard, and very effective urban combat, but, if the streets are filled with rubble, or it's an "old quarter" with tall buildings and narrow streets,

Taking a ZSU-23 barrel, to make a breech or bolt action rifle, would be very effective. An AP round would easily punch through a standard brick or block wall, and even a couple layers of sandbags. A HE round would only require a couple yards accuracy to wound anybody in the room.
