Fleeing War And Crumbling Economy, Ukrainians Flock To Europe -- Reuters
(Reuters) - Andriy left his home town in western Ukraine earlier this year on a journey that brought him through the hands of shady traders in Poland to one of the world's booming markets for illegal immigrants - London.
Fleeing the strife of war with Russian-backed fighters and a shattered economy, Andriy is following a path similar to one taken by thousands of his fellow Ukrainians who have traveled either eastwards to Russia or westwards to the European Union.
"I don't want to fight in any war," said Andriy, who spoke on the condition neither his surname nor home town would be published because of fear that he could be deported.

My Comment: Ukrainians .... especially young Ukrainians .... are fleeing the country en-masse. The children of my cousins in Ukraine are all looking for a way to get out .... with Europe and the U.S. being the destination of choice. Interestingly .... no one wants to go to Canada (I live in Montreal) .... I guess they hate our winters. The reasons on why everyone now wants to leave is simple .... the economy has imploded, the war shows no signs of ending, and the political class .... from Ukrainian President Poroshenko on down .... have completely failed in implementing any of the reforms that they had promised they would implement when they were elected. Faced with unemployment and no prospects of a better future .... and a war that shows no signs of ending .... I do not blame these kids wanting to leave.

There is a large Ukrainian Community out west, but, 3/4's self identify as Russian, from three waves of immigration, two Czarist era, one post WWI,
And 1/4 are post WWII, and there is a shism between the two, due to the West Ukrainian Bandarista roots of the last wave. It started in the 70's, and got real bad in the 80's, to the point that my town has two Ukrainian Cultural Centers.
The Harper Government has made big pledges to the Ukrainian Community about aid, Refugees and Immigration, but like most of their promises, it's just hot air to try to get the votes.
