Pleeeease!
This is exactly what he should have expected... don't shoot your mouth off about still-classified events. He of all people knows that. I just hope that he wasn't in such a desperate situation (PTSD, economic or otherwise) that he felt he had to.
You're exactly right, but if he is to be sanctioned, then a host of administration officials, congressmen, senators, agency members, ranking military officers, and last but not least journalists should share in the same punishment for the exact same reason.
Amen James!!!
When I posted this story I was at a lost for words on what to say. Here is a man who risked his life to kill Osama Bin Laden .... and now if convicted he may spend a good of his life in jail for saying what (and how) he did it !?!?!?!?!
And add to the outrage .... scores of others (politicians, reporters, pundits, Hollywood, etc.) have gone on TV, written books or news articles, and said basically the same thing .... but are free to walk the streets without any legal consequence.
I am shaking my head ....
Remember when the media played up Obama's heroism for killing bin Laden.....somebody's just jealous.
Or I could be proven wrong and he gets the presidential pardon.
Witch do yall think is braver fighting for your country and going to jail or raising a pen?
No jury made up of civilians would ever convict such a man .... judgement will have to come from a judge or a panel of judges. But if someone like Rob O'Neill .... with his jaw-dropping record of service .... ends up being convicted and going to jail .... for doing and saying what everyone else in Washington is doing and saying .... it will send a shudder through the soul of America .... even among those who have been critical of Rob O'Neill in going public and describing his role in killing Bin Laden.
Phill .... a Presidential pardon would not be good enough .... even though I sincerely doubt that President Obama would ever do such a thing for such a man.
I am still shaking my head ....
I have mix feelings on this issue. One side of me believes with all my heart he is a American hero who put his own life In danger for our country. The other side believes that this information should be kept away from the general public. One of my favorite parts of Chris kyles book American Sniper is when he describes SEALs as private professionals. It also makes me sick when politicians get off with little or no punishment for similar situations.
Silent professionals typo
Chris Kyle's book also contains the unsubstantiated claims that over 30 Americans were extrajudicially executed by sniper teams in the aftermath of Katrina.
There is a current "need" for bragdaddio in the military, that didn't used to exist.
My old MSgt. Had ribbons, and in dress, medals, from the tail end of WWII, to late 70's deployments. Even when he had a dozen beers in him, if you asked, his answer was still the same. "You don't want to know!"
Only at his funeral, many years later, did I learn, from his compatriots, that his DSM was awarded for Kapyong.
I doubt O'Neill revealed
any secrets that weren't
previously leaked and
reported. However, it
doesn't matter how wide-
spread the knowledge is,
it's still officially
secret and he can be
investigated, charged,
and convicted. Whether
he actually is or just
faces judicial harassment
is another matter.
