U.S. Preparing To Launch Airstrikes Against Islamic State Targets In Libya

US Mulls Airstrikes On Islamist Training Camp In Libya -- The Australian/The Times

THE US is plotting to expand its military campaign to Libya after fighters loyal to Islamic State were seen training in the east of the country.

A US commander has acknowledged that discussions are under way in Washington about broadening the anti-Islamic State campaign to Libya.

David Rodriguez, commander of US Africa Command, revealed at a Pentagon briefing that Islamic State training camps involving up to 200 militants had been set up in eastern Libya.

Asked whether consideration was being given to targeting the militants there, he replied: “That policy discussion is ongoing and we’ll see how that goes.”

There were no immediate plans to take military action.

My Comment: It appears that the groundwork has been prepared for a greater foreign intervention in the Libyan civil war .... expect U.S. (or someone else) launching airstrikes very soon.
