A Shift In Terror Targets?
Shane Harris, Daily Beast: US Spies Expected Airline Bombs–And Got The Paris Attacks Instead
WNU Editor: I will have to disagree with Shane Harris on this one. Updating this blog has exposed me to many news and blog reports on worries from the intelligence community that Al Qaeda and their affiliated groups would one day resort to mass shootings and high casualty bomb attacks .... on the level of the Mumbai terror attacks in 2008 or the Beslan terror attacks in 2004 .... and the concern was more on when was this going to happen and not on if it was going to happen. In hindsight .... the attack against a Pakistani school last month was a heads up that a shift in terror tactics was in the making .... and what happened in Paris last week and the thwarted terrorist attack in Belgium a few days ago is confirmation that this will now probably be the preferred method/targets for these groups to conduct terror attacks.

And why not? The Mumbai attacks resulted in days of chaos and hundreds of deaths, far more than what a single suicide bomber can usually accomplish. I expect this to become the preferred method of attack.
