Is Russia And Iran Forming A Military Alliance?

IBTimes: Russia, Iran Expand Military Ties With New Deal To 'Confront' The US

WNU Editor: I guess all is forgiven since the defense ministers did not mention the controversy over a 2007 contract to deliver the Russian S-300 air-defense system to Iran .... weapon systems that Russia did not supply over objections by the United States and Israel.

Russia and Iran have had a military alliance for some time. This is nothing new. As for the S-300 air defense system, the Iranian air defenses are more than adequate as they are. At this point, it would be impossible for the USAF to penetrate it. The IAF who has better trained and better led pilots could probably penetrate it but the US cannot.

I had expected the Israelis perhaps working with Gulf Arab states to eliminate Iran's nuclear weapons program by now but this has not happened. It seems they are not going to act and it could be to late.

Since the parties capable of eliminating the Iranian nuclear weapons program have chosen not to act either because they did not want to, do not want to, or are unable to do so, it seems American foreign policy will need to be based upon the assumption that Iran will have nuclear weapons very soon and policy makers should plan and act in accordance to this reality.
