This interesting, I wish I could have seen the scene personally. Many questions come to mind, but here's only one for the moment. If this guy is the High Muckety Muck Chief Executioner he would have had a personal security detail, where are they?

Good point James. Was he cocky or was he left alone to be an easy mark.

Don't know WNU, are they dead or wounded and somewhere else? Or if it was an inside job what could be the motivation? Also did you notice who's reporting this (perhaps you've seen more that would explain this) all west media. It's possible that it is from outside ISIS revenge killing, but that brings us back to his security detail. I think there is a lot more to this than we think.

Of is it just agitprop?

State and the Pentagon are running a $2million a year "disinformation" campaign to target ISIS recruiting and ISIS cores, to target moral and allegiances.

Could very well be, but it would bring us right back to the question of his personal security or in this case the apparent lack of it.
If it is agitprop and he has personal security, the security detail (or important parts of it) were in on it, or were neutralized in some manner. If he did not have personal security then he's not what some have claimed him to be.
Then that leaves another possibility (as alluded to by WNU: cocky). He wasn't what he seemed to be, went alone to a meeting he shouldn't have and met his end. Whether his demise was from revenge, agitprop, betrayal, or the dangers of unfiltered cigarettes it is an interesting small puzzle. The overall problem for ISIS is they really can't have any of their people showing up dead other than from natural causes. Entities that enforce their will mainly by terror cannot let even the smallest hint of rebellion go unanswered.

The victim is not named, his position is just alluded to, his death, or the conditions of his death are not confirmed, and it's the US/EU/MI6 SMG claiming the death.

Between 2004 and 2008, Idris Saif, the #2 AQI Counterintelligence officer, was killed 9 times, 3 airstrikes, 2 drones, one carbomb, 2 SOF raids, and once in an internal power struggle.

Idris Saif, never existed. The position of #2 AQI Counterintelligence, never existed.

His death was created as agitprop, to attack AQI morale, cause comm chatter, try to cause changes to AQI security and communications methods, and sometimes, because the US Military had a bad month with no wins.
