Washington Times: Muslims segregated from French society in growing Islamist mini-states
WNU Editor: The establishment of ghettos based on religion/culture/race is nothing new in Europe .... in fact .... this has been the case throughout European history. Jews, Gypsies, other ethnic/sectarian groups .... throughout European history these many groups established ghettos and regions that they congregated in, did business in, and started families and communities. This Islamic wave is just another wave .... but unfortunately .... many within this community have now taken upon themselves to promote a radical and violent interpretation of Jihad that will all but guarantee blow-back and anger from a majority of the citizens within the state that these Islamic communities reside in. This should concern everyone .... especially leaders within the Arab/Muslim community. Europe has a long and bloody history when it comes to treating minorities that it perceives as a threat, and even though we do live in the 21rst century .... no one should ever underestimate the Europeans when it comes to how they may react when they perceive a growing threat on the horizon .... even if it is within their own country.

Sorry, but it's just a repeat of the Islamophobia in the US, shown by similar "stories" during the Paris Riots.

Is the real threat these ghetto's, and the ghettoization of these immigrants, refugees and colon's creates.
Yeah Jay,
Whatever. All this discrimination is why my non-Western looking spouse makes 6 figures.
Someone from Turkey or North Africa looks positively Anglo compared to my spouse.
How do you explain actress Sibel Kekilli?
How do explain Philipp Rösler?
Do not have to go to Europe to see these Arab/Islamic "ghettos". I live in Quebec, and in Montreal I have personally experienced such no-go zones and/or places where non-Arabs are definitely not welcomed. As to Juan Cole's assessment that French Muslims are not interested in Islam .... and even less so in Al Qaeda .... I do not know about France, but I do know that in Montreal there are many who are .... and even though they may represent a tiny fraction, the silence from the remaining 99% is deafening. This has utterly nothing to with Islamophobia .... it is what it is.
" the silence from the remaining 99% is deafening. This has utterly nothing to with Islamophobia .... it is what it is"
They are coasting in the SLIPSTREAM of the radicals and they like it.
Call Them:
SLIPSTREAM Radicals
SLIPSTREAM Muslims
The 99% are not silent.
Mahyer Arar lives in my hometown. Did you see his statement on Charlie yesterday? Or the Mosques? Or the MASWC statement? Of course not, it didn't make the news, except the local radio station.
You really need to read the second link I provoded. It's copies of the DSGC interviews, with the four French Journalists, who were held and tortured for months, by the Synagoge Killer.
I hope that you are right Jay on the 99% not being quiet. The situation in the Middle East and certain parts of Africa are spiraling out of control, and it is because of religion coupled with sectarianism and the involvement of outside powers that is providing the fuel.
I am stuck for time this afternoon, but I will definitely be reading the DCGC interviews later tonight. I will make my comments in this thread.
It is good that people like Maher Arar are speaking out .... unfortunately .... we need a few million more of him to make a difference. RDS in Quebec (the French news feed on TV) did cover Arar for about 15 seconds this morning .... way too little coverage in my book. Nothing in the English press.
Correction. It was not Arar, it was someone else. But the news media in Montreal is now extensively covering Muslim reaction to the attack in France.
If taken at face value, Mahyer Arar sounds like Zuhdi Jasser, who I believe to be a nice guy and totally irrelevant.
Zuhdi Jasser is as relevant to American Muslims as Hekmaktyar Gulbuddin was to the mujaheddin.
The ISI created Gulbuddin by giving him all sorts of material support. The ISI made him so they could break him. He was "their" guy. He got the lions share of $$$ due to Pakistani insistence. They controlled him. He had very little tribal support.
Fox News in a way created Jasser by giving him air time. But what support does he have? Jasser is less relevant than Ibrahim Hooper, Farahkhan or other Muslim leaders. Jasser, who is not an Iman (& thus not a religious authority) and does not control a large organization backed a lot of American Muslims (& is thus not influential politically) is nothing. He is a nice guy and I wish that others were like him, but they are not.
Mahyer Arar seems to be the Canadian version of Jasser.
You are blowing smoke & I resent it.
British Iman Choudry is louder, has more people in the street protesting, organizes Sharia patrols, has more grass roots power, scares the shit out of people.
In short Chourdy & people like him have more pull than anyone *Jay* will mention.
I am counting noses, professed intent, will power & capability.
I think Jay is singing lullabies
*** And I don't think Mahyer Arar lives in your hometown.***
Mayar Arar, is the Canadian-Syrian Engineer, renditioned to Syria, tortured for two years by the SSSD, with the help of the CIA and CSIS, was released, came home, despite attempts by the Harper Government to stop him, beat an attempt to use the Security Certificates to muzzle him in Supreme Court, then won a multi-million dollar judgement against the Canadian Government, then used the money to fund a bunch of inter-faith, anti-extremist and social justice charities.
I know Mayer Arar and his family, both personally, professionally, and through local community charity work.
Jay >>Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada << That is unless your profile is out of date.
"At the time of his rendition, Arar was employed in Ottawa as a telecommunications engineer.'
So Arar lives in Kamloops now?
As far as the rendition goes, I figure this. The U.S. gov effed up, The gov jumped the gun or the gov does not want to divulge sources and & methods.
I don't think much of Kunstler.
Yup, Mayer Arar and his family have lived in Kamloops since his return, and the Community has been very supportive of him and his Family, since day one.
In the aftermath of 9/11, the US offered a "bounty" on "radicals", amounting to a "no questions asked" policy, worth between 10 years and 20 years average income, with zero understanding of the tribal conflicts and corrupt culture, and figured that the torture would sort the "suspects" out from the "terrorists".
If the US offered a $1million to $2miion dollar " bounty" on US "radicals", and you got paid the moment the Cops grabbed them, and got to keep the money if they were innocent or not, wouldn't you be tempted to call the Cops on that Prius driving yuppie neighbor who's little dog craps on your lawn, and when uou complain, tells you to " lighten up, it's biodegradeable"?
Drop a dime on the them for money? I don't think so.
Oh wow!!!! I am glad that you live in Kamloops Jay. When I have the time and freedom to visit the wineries in the Okanagan valley, I now know someone that I can give a call and who can tell me where to go .... and where not to. Mission Hill, Burrowing Owl Estate Winery (for me .... one of my BC favorites), and Osoyoos Larose .... are three that on my list. If I can add to it .... I am all ears .... or should I say nose?.
Harper Valley, first winery in Kamloops, excellent products.
I think you meant Harper's Trail. http://harperstrail.com/
Their products are not at Quebec's SAQ or in Ontario. Darn .... one more thing to add to my bucket list.
WNU Editor,
You've got my e-mail, come for the golf and the wine,
Stay for the beer, the perogi's, but mostly the fishing.
Jay. My girlfriend and I are making plans to tour North America in an RV two years from now. I have Old Fat and Slow in Florida to visit, James in Texas, a few other readers who correspond to me by email in New York, Washington DC, West Virginia, L.A. and Seattle, a regular reader in Vancouver .... and now one in the Okanagan valley of BC.
Who said running a blog was a waste of time?
Perogis .... I love perogis ....
Give yourself lot's of time, there is lot's to see, and in a lot of area's, like the Coqihallah, ( Highway of Death), or the 7A, not having a tight timetable is the difference between an enjoyable, scenic roadtrip, and DeathRace 2000.
We are allocating 2 - 3 months. Nice RV. Satellite internet is essential (of course). Definitely no DeathRace 2000.
WNUE:
Looking forward to the
visit.

Thank you for this link Jay http://www.liberation.fr/societe/2014/09/08/affaire-nemmouche-ce-que-l-on-sait_1096005
I actually covered this case when it happened ....

But your link definitely adds more info to what we did not know in 2012
WNU Editor,
It's important to note, despite the media at the time, the guy was just an antisemetic, nihilist sociopath, with a lust for notoriety,
And didn't even know the basics of Islam, but ISIS was fine with that.
In Mexico, he would have been Sinhiloa or Zeta, in South Central, a Crip or a Blood, in Vancouver, a Red Dragon or White Russian.
And this is the danger of the Immigrant slums of Europe. For every 1,000 Bedu, excluded from European society, who choose an " other" life of work, song, community, art,
1 chooses anarchist violent nilhism.
BTW, in my neck of the woods, Rainbow Trout grow to 25lbs, Brookies to 5lbs, and we catch them all on light flyfishing tackle.
