ITAR-TASS: Ukraine will not be a federation but will remain a unitary state —- Poroshenko
85% of Ukrainians are in favor of Ukraine’s going on as a unitary state, Poroshenko told a briefing in Kharkiv
WNU Editor: I would like to know who that 85% in support of a unitary state are .... because the last thing that people are focused on right now is supporting a system where Kiev has all the power and authority to run things as they have since Soviet times. But since Ukrainian president Poroshenko has already made it very clear that Ukraine will not be a federated state .... what is the point of setting up this constitutional commission.
Sighhh .... regular readers of this blog know that even before the war brokeout, I have always been an advocate of federalism .... that for Ukraine to survive as a unified state it would have to become a federated country in order to respect the different cultural and ethnic compositions of the country. Since I now live in Canada .... I have used the Canadian model to push this case. Unfortunately .... Poroshenko is more interested in keeping power than sharing it .... hence the conflict.
On a side note .... President Poroshenko will be making a serious mistake if he is primarily focused on (and hoping for) the following .... 'No doubt' US will provide arms: Ukraine president (AFP). In the meantime ... discontent and frustration against his rule is building .... Hundreds trying to break into Ukraine president’s office in Kiev (RT).

Porshenko and Yats are trapped in certain roles, by both internal and external actors.
When push comes to shove, their only choices are to double down on failed policies, in the hopes that the Novarussian will break,
Pack their bags and flee the torches and pitchforks,
Or wait quietly in the Mansions for the end.
This is what happens when Politicians get "captured" by outside actors, and internal actors, who are immune from consequence.
And just when you thought the Rada could not be any more of a circius, ex. Pres. Shashkavilli of Georgia is being put forward for the Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Minister.
I heard about Shashkavilli being put forward for the Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Minister. It reminds me of a Ray Bradbury quote .... "the gargoyles have taken over the cathedral".
WNU,
The disintegration of the West has now become public. In very short order the US Administration may find it very difficult to ascertain who to give the "lethal weapons" to, just like divining who the "legitimate opposition" is in Syria.
James,
"The disintegration of the West has now become public"
What does that mean?
Aizino,
When governments are in trouble they do their very best to not show that in public, especially in the media.
When you have countries such as the Ukraine where the government controls or better yet is the media and you have stories getting out that say "large numbers of people are attempting to break into the Presidents office", then internal structural breakdown is well advanced. One example to cite is "Baghdad Bob". This is one reason that collapses of governments (societies) can seem so all of the sudden. I'm a little pressed for time, but I hope that kind of clarifies what I meant. Another good example would be the old USSR, I'd bet that even with his somewhat inside position and knowledge of it's problems, WNU was surprised/shocked at the speed of it's demise.
Oh, and in this circumstance when I use the term "West" I'm referring to Kievian Ukraine. Of course a good case could be made that my premise above can apply to the "West" in a general sense US, Europe, South America.
