Jerusalem Post: Report: Hezbollah to send forces to fight alongside Iraq in Mosul, against ISIS

800 men reportedly to be sent to Iraqi Samarra in new few weeks.

Hezbollah will send 800 men to fight alongside Iraqi forces against Islamic State for the control of Mosul, the London-based al-Araby al-Jadeed newspaper reported Sunday.

According to sources, following the battle over Tikrit, Tehran turned to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah with a joint Iraqi-Iranian request to support the fight against Islamic State in Mosul with trained fighters. An unnamed source told al-Jadeed that Nasrallah agreed to send about 800 men from elite units to participate in the anticipated battle.

WNU Editor: This is not the first time that reports of Hezbollah fighters being sent to Iraq have been made .... Lebanon’s Hezbollah acknowledges battling the Islamic State in Iraq (Washington Post). But this new deployment does reveal one important fact .... more men are needed to fight the Islamic State, and what is present in Iraq is not enough to defeat their forces.

WNU editor: Do you see this as 'international cooperation', or simply the sign of a growing Sunni/Shia conflict?

I cannot imagine that the presence of Hezbollah, not to mention Iran, is going to earn the support of countries like Saudi Arabia etc.

Alex .... this is just further confirmation to many Sunnis that this is now a sectarian conflict.

Rhaegar .... I am not aware of what is happening at Konstantinovka .... I have been busy all day today. I will be checking it now and I am preparing a couple of posts on Ukraine. Thank you for the heads-up.

Kids (2 school girls) getting ran over by American APC in South Korea on a field exercise caused unrest a decade ago.

I figure the same would happen here.

ISIs need to cross the river south Tikrit and his some convoys and cause the the IA & Iranians to redelpoy some forces.

They cannot stand up to the throw weight that the IA & Iranians have.

This time the IEDs will slow but not dissuade their opponents.
