Daily Mail: The bombing raid that killed more than Nagasaki - and the world forgot: Then-and-now pictures reveal the night 100,000 died in massive US firebomb attack on Tokyo
* Exactly 70 years ago, more than 100,000 people were killed in a Tokyo air strike during the Second World War
* Came as U.S. bombers dumped cluster bombs and destroyed a fifth of the Japanese capital in just one night
* The attack was more deadly than Nagasaki but received little attention as Tokyo rebuilt itself quickly after the war
* New then and now pictures have been released showing how Japan recovered following Second World War
It was one of the deadliest attacks during World War Two leaving more than 100,000 people dead and destroying large parts of Tokyo but is often forgotten from history.
Now 70 years on, new before and after pictures have been released showing how the Japanese capital recovered after the firebomb strike that killed more than Nagasaki in a single night.
On March 10, 1945, U.S. B-29 bombers flew over Tokyo in the dead of night, dumping massive payloads of cluster bombs.
The raids left a fifth of Tokyo smouldering under an expanse of charred bodies and rubble.
WNU Editor: Every Friday night in our family we have a tradition of lighting a candle to remember loved ones and to acknowledge the loss of others. This Friday night we will remember Tokyo.

"Today Is The Day That 70 Years Ago 100,000 Died In A Massive US Firebomb Attack On Tokyo"
100,000? Is that all?
80,000 dies in Hiroshima and 40,000 died in Nagasaki and we are told that was worse.
Tired of people pointing out Hiroshima. The only reason it was bombed is because all the larger targets had been devastated by firebombing (That and the Japanese refused to surrender). The firebombing killed as many people per city as a nuke and every Tom, Dick, & Hairy does not know it.
I am not sure a nuke is worse than a firestorm made by incendiaries. In Hamburg the firestorm burned for 4 days. People were swept into from a block away. I think I would rather go out in a flash than be dragged into a firestorm. (I also rather people think I am crazier than they are. They tend to all the sudden become civilized. Kerry should try that with the Iranians).
I have relatives from 2 different continents that were in cities that were bombed. Dumb protesters marching with Freeze, Sane & Kerry only seem to remember the nukes.
On a time scale considered by geologists or archaeologists, firebombing civilization until it winds down to nothingness or nuking it is about the same thing. the latter might be easier to predict, but just sequentially banning objects is not going to get you anywhere. You have to change the people and mostly not by force. It has to come from within.
