Business Insider: Top US official: There is no exit strategy for the war against ISIS
A top US military official has told the House Foreign Affairs Committee that the US has no real end-game strategy for the ongoing fight against ISIS in Iraq.
General John R. Allen, a special presidential envoy to the Global Coalition to Counter the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, told the Foreign Affairs Committee that "there's no exit strategy" for dealing with ISIS in response to questions from Congressman Alan Grayson (D-FL).
Grayson had asked Allen about what the military's ultimate exit strategy was in ending the ongoing US-led operation against ISIS in Iraq.

Solemaini has disappeared from the Tikrit front. Either Iran is keeping him out of sight for the "talks" or he's gone to Yemen. My guess is Yemen.
No exit strategy from the war on ISIS? Heck the ISIS war WAS to be the exit strategy for the war in Iraq but came a little too late to be seamless. Iran is probably the exit strategy for the ISIS war assuming of course things don't go the right way in Ukraine.
One would think from comments this is a new situation - but it dates to least as far back as the Byzantine empire.
