Europe is Now Facing A Massive Influx Of Refugees From Africa And The Middle East

Washington Post: European officials grapple with ‘epic’ migrant crisis in the Mediterranean

European rescue ships and planes fanned out across the Mediterranean on Monday amid an escalating crisis with possibly hundreds of desperate migrants lost in the waves and other vessels sending out calls for help.

The dangerous journeys from North Africa and elsewhere have gone on for many years. But the scope of the current exodus has left European officials fearing that former measures could soon prove insufficient.

Growing instability in the Middle East and expanding human trafficking routes across Africa have many European leaders studying even bolder action to save migrants and — at the same time — try to block their bids to reach Europe.

WNU Editor: This has been predicted for a long time .... and what we are now seeing is just the tip of the iceberg. There are literally tens of millions who want to flee the countries that they are living in because of war, economic crisis, or discrimination .... and Europe has become their destination of choice.

Thank you James for the link. Richard Fernandez and Victor Davis Hanson are always must reads for me.

Richard is one of those people, who are just too damn smart.

Or maybe he is of normal intelligence and his knowledgeable and objective.

Anyway his articles are always a must read.

I don't know why Richard's article is not on the front page. I didn't see it until you mentioned it, James.

Aizino,
Let's just say he's one of those people who has had an interesting life (especially in the 80's) that gives him a very clear view on things.

Very strange times indeed. There is little hope for many people in the Middle East and Africa and Europe looks like a good choice. Older demographics and great social welfare programs depending on the nation. Problem is European culture will suffer and this will be used as a rallying cry for nationalists. Dangerous events will ultimately play out here.

The problem is to some extent that people are coming to Europe.

The problem is that they are carrying some odious parts of and an odious system they are fleeing.

Plus people do not like when even innocuous changes are made such as food or language.

But to see one's language disappear or to radically change is hard.

Also if these immigrants get on the welfare system and stay on it it does not help, anyone, the countries with graying populations nor the immigrants.
