Interpol-Wanted Ukrainian Extremist Appointed As Adviser To Ukraine's Chief Of Staff

Business Insider/AFP: Ukraine far-right leader made army advisor in move to control militias

Kiev (AFP) - The controversial leader of Ukraine's ultra-nationalist Pravy Sektor paramilitary group, which is fighting pro-Russian rebels alongside government troops, was made an army advisor Monday as Kiev seeks to tighten its control over volunteer fighters.

Coming on the anniversary of the start of fighting in Ukraine, the move marks a key step in government efforts to establish authority over the several private armies that share its goal of crushing pro-Russian separatists in the east, but do not necessarily operate under its control.

WNU Editor: His appointment sends a shudder through me .... his forces have caused enormous harm and destruction throughout eastern Ukraine, and his groups intimidation of Ukrainian opponents within the rest of the country have been widely reported. Nothing good is going to come out of this appointment .... if anything .... it is signal to everyone in Ukraine that there is a very good possibility of more war and conflict in eastern Ukraine later this spring and summer. It also tells me how weak the Ukraine government and military is .... that they have to rely on someone like him to bolster their feeble positions.
