Russian president Vladimir Putin speaks during a ceremony to award WWII veterans in honor of the upcoming 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War in Moscow, February 20, 2015.
Business Insider: Putin just dismissed nearly 20 generals
Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed nearly 20 generals just a day before Moscow was set to host a Victory Day parade celebrating the 70th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany, RIA Novosti reports.
The generals were dismissed by a presidential decree. Among those let go was the lieutenant general of police, Sergey Lavrov, as well as the head of media relations in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Andrei Pilipchuk.
The first deputy commander of the central regional military command, Vladimir Padalko, was also dismissed, according to the Gazeta.
WNU Editor: These things are usually done after the May 9 Victory Day celebrations ... and it is usually one or two top commanders being "retired". But 20 generals!?!?!?! You do not have to be a Kremlin watcher to know that something is up.

WNU could you give us your insight into this i tried several links couldnt find anything are they 5th columnists,to do with nemtsov case ,kadyrov or wont obey orders as there hardliners thank you
Peter,
So far, they are all high Law Enforcement positions, all across Russia.
There is a "shake up" of some kind going on, but it will take a few weeks for "it" to become clear.
I second the request by PETER. I would appreciate hearing your assessment on the purging of these generals. Thank you ahead of time.
One example that Putin isn't
the new Stalin is that these
former generals haven't been
shot. A small glimmer of
hope.

You kill me ofs. :)
A bit offtopic but here is an video from the separatists parade in Donetsk, there are several video's of it but this one is filmed from one or several in the crowd, so it picks up the sound from the crowd. Could you translate what they are shouting around 5:04 in the video and the general mood of the crowd. Just asking since I don't know the language and it would be interesting to know. Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PedFjXNN2aM
I will be posting more on this story on Monday.
Thank you for the link Rhaegar. I will be looking at it later tonight and posting what they are saying.
Since these seem to be law enforcement officials rather than the leaders who would be in charge of foreign military operations, it seems Russia's military capabilities which are the world's best will be unaffected.
Thank you for answering to my post, will be nice to read what they are saying :)
I listened to what they were yelling at the 5:02 mark .... but I could not understand it. I called over my 89 year old Russian mother .... and she could not understand what they were yelling about. I could only assume it is slogan for a particular military group ... but I could be wrong.
No problem, thank you for trying. Also you said that you were going to post more on this story (the separatist parades) on Monday, will you still do it, since it would be interesting to read your thoughts about the parade and the general mood in the crowd. Since does the locals still support the separatists?
Rhaegar .... The separatist mood is very solid in eastern Ukraine right now .... I do not see them joining back with Ukraine willingly. The parade itself was interesting to see how determined and well equipped the separatist forces are .... their stuff was not modern, but they looked cleaned and well maintained.
What I was actually going to post more on was the firing of a large number of officers and generals in the Russian army last week. I will be doing that later tonight.
Aha, I see. Thank you for the answer, it's good with a updated about how the mood is in Donetsk now.
