The U.S. Army Wants A Drone Tank

The Daily Mail: The drone TANK that could soon lead US troops into battle: Army bosses reveal robotank has already been tested

* Trials allowed tank to be controlled by soldier 1km behind
* Could be sent first into highly dangerous areas
* Tank can reload and change weapons using specially developed systems

It is one of the most hi-tech tanks ever created - and doesn't even need a driver.

The US Army has revealed it has been testing the vehicle, known as Ripsaw.

The 'drone tank' is controlled remotely, and can reload itself and even change weapons at the touch of a button.

WNU Editor: I am surprised that it has taken the US Army this long to develop such a weapons platform. Why send in soldiers when you can send in your drone tank to engage the enemy.

Bolo.

Did not the French develop a prototype in the late 1980s or early 1990s?

Anzino,

The French developed a prototype in 1937.

The Soviets built the teletank and sent it into combat in the Winter War.

My memory is bad. I was thinking of an AMX13 tank without a crew

It featured a disappearing gun like guns of coastal forts during the Endicott Program.

I between firing it would have a position better than a hull down position.

I thought there was talk of making them autonomous.
