RT: US Secretary of State Kerry going to Russia, set to meet Lavrov, Putin
US Secretary of State John Kerry is planning a trip to Sochi on Tuesday, where he is expected to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The three men are to discuss the situation in Ukraine, Yemen, Iraq and Syria.
The trip has been confirmed by Russian and US officials.
"This trip is part of our ongoing effort to maintain direct lines of communication with senior Russian officials and to ensure US views are clearly conveyed," State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf said in a written statement.
WNU Editor: According to Russian media these talks are being done on the initiative of John Kerry .... which tells me that nothing has been planned. Apparently the topics will include Iran, Syria, and Ukraine .... but on these issues both sides are so far apart that I have trouble seeing how an accommodation can be reached. One thing that I have noticed about John Kerry's style of diplomacy is that he tries to set into motion discussions in the hope that the process of having talks will end up with an amicable solution. This tactic was tried last year in the Israeli - Palestinian talks .... but when the real issues came up for discussion .... these talks collapsed. I predict the same will happen with these discussions .... Russia is not going to bend, and I do not see the U.S. changing its position.

Kerry is part of that, but I think this hope or strategy is more general among certain group of people.

Your taste in music is different from James Aizino. Kumbaya music .... what's net. :)
The music is a political statement.
It expresses what many people think of Kerry's efforts.
The protagonists of Voltaire's play Candide I think are pretty close to being dead ringers for Kerry and his ilk.
