During and after the Chechen Wars, the "supply route" into Russia, of Islamic terror goups for money, manpower and weapons, were:

- from Afghanistan via Tajikistand and Uzbeckistan, with various Lslamic terror groups such as the UIA, having cells in Tajikistan and Uzbeckistan,

- from Georgia via the Panskir Gorge.

In the aftermath of the Second Chechen War, these terror groups were driven out of Russia, Georgia, Uzbeckistan and Tajikistan, into Afghanistan, where they made common cause with the Talkban.

With the Taliban takeover of Kunduz Province, the potential re-opening of this terrorist highway into Russia, is a threat.

Russia, Uzbeckistan and Takikistan simply want to keep these terrorist groups contained in Afghanistan and The NWFP of Pakistan.
