Reuters: France says Iran deal 'still not clear' as deadline nears
France's Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said on Sunday it was unclear whether an international deal could be reached on Iran's nuclear program by a June 30 deadline.
Fabius has said he would meet his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on Monday to assess where Iran stands ahead of the final round of talks on its nuclear program, which begin later in the week.
"We need to be extremely firm, at the stage where we are now, things are still not clear," Fabius said in talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Monday's bilateral meeting, on the sidelines of an EU foreign ministers' summit in Luxembourg, will be followed by a meeting between Zarif and all the European parties negotiating with Iran.
Update: Any nuclear deal with Iran must be verifiable: France -- AFP

.... "We need to be extremely firm, at the stage where we are now, things are still not clear," Fabius said in talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
If things are still not clear .... after years of negotiations and talks .... how can it be "cleared up" in just the next 10 days?

If an Iranian nuclear deal needs to be verified by France, then this means it will be approved as long as it hurts the United States. While French leaders would gleefully support anything that harms the United States, presumably they don't want their own country hurt.
Perhaps they are suddenly thinking long term and are thinking that after a Russian alliance destroys the United States they might be next. Such long term thinking seems unlikely for the French. As such, the only "revealing" part might be this is simply not humiliating enough to the United States for their liking and perhaps they are concerned the United States may not be harmed enough.
After all the United States is a "strategic competitor" of America and the EU. As such, France and all EU nations would gladly welcome anything or even that might harm America and they would celebrate such an event up to and including its complete destruction.
I meant the United States is a strategic competitor of France and the EU. As such, they'd welcome anything or anyone who would harm America. As such, they'd celebrate anything up to and including America's complete destruction and the total death of its people. Perhaps a few survivors could be preserved as slaves for their liking!! As such, the only "revealing:" thing I find in this is either they a deal with Iran would not lead to America's destruction quickly enough for their liking or they think Iran's expansionist plans would be turned to them after they are through with America.
Since long term thinking for France or the EU does not seem likely, they must be concerned that a deal will not harm America sufficiently to their liking. As for America, if I were POTUS, I'd make sure the US military and all US government agencies understood that Iran is going to acquire nuclear weapons and there's nothing we can do to prevent it. Iran is a mortal enemy of America, no one is going to help us, everyone will help Iran. In other words formulate strategies for our national security based upon reality and not upon what we wish reality to be.
Essentially at present Iran has the support of Russia and China the two most powerful military forces on earth, especially Russia. As such, US policy needs to understand this.
