Specian envoy de Mistra estimates Tehran spends $6 billion annually in military and economic aid to Syria
Iran is spending billions of dollars annually to support and strengthen President Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria, financial site Bloomberg reported on Tuesday.
A spokesman for Staffan de Mistra, the UN special envoy to Syria, told Bloomberg on Monday that the envoy estimates Iran spends $6 billion annually in military and economic aid to Syria, which includes delivery of all crude oil needs of the country.
“The Special Envoy has estimated Iran spends $6 billion annually on supporting the Assad regime in Syria. So it’s $6 billion not $35 billion,” Jessy Chahine, the spokeswoman for de Staffan de Mistura said Monday in an email, Bloomberg reported.
WNU Editor: When you add in their support of Hezbollah, Shiite militias in Iraq, Houthi rebels in Yemen .... this is big money with the very real possibility that in the end it will be for nothing.

Could an infographic showing Iranian government expenditures cause grief for the the Iranian government?
If a utility in the U.S. wants to increase prices they have to show why in states with citizen utility boards (CUBs).
Cost accounting shows you if you are getting the bang for your buck (no pun intended). It show if your company, country, organization is efficient.

6 billion would be about 3.4% of the 173 billion dollar 2012/2013 budget
The they have all the other people to support like HAMAS, Houthis, Hezbollah, Iraq, Afghanistan guerillas, etc
Correction $ 568 billion in revenues in Rials. So have to translate that 6 Billion in aid to Syria.
I wouldnt say "for nothing". This is a massive commitment by Iran, and its steadfast support of the Syrian regime projects a good image with regards to its credibility in supporting allies. The much less prevalent Shia part of Islam is also seen to be under attack, and the most common narrative is that this is a fight for its future and existence. This is a collective effort, and even in the event of failure, Iran will be seen as a foremost model of all the Shia states for its contribution in defending Shia Islam. The religious and political benefits are seen to outweigh the financial/military investment.
I agree compleatly with you mathew. Better to fight idis now than in the suburbs of teheran
