ITAR-TASS: NATO hands over emergency contact numbers to Russian side — diplomat
VIENNA, June 16. /TASS/. NATO has handed Russia a list of telephone numbers to be used in emergency situations but no other contacts have taken place so far, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexey Meshkov said on Tuesday.
"Everything looks very brief. Telephone numbers that you can call in emergency situations have been handed over to the Russian side. That’s all," Meshkov told TASS.
Last week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that all military communication channels between Moscow and Washington, including those within the NATO-Russia Council, had been frozen not due to Moscow’s fault but upon the initiative of the United Sates.
WNU Editor: Even during the height of the Cold War .... East-West contacts were always maintained .... but it appears that this is no longer the case.
