Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov
RT: Lavrov: Russia expects US to abandon Europe AMD plans after Iran deal
Moscow hopes the US will fulfill its promise not to develop a system of missile defense in Europe after a deal with Iran has been reached, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in Vienna on Tuesday.
“We all probably remember that in April 2009 in Prague [US] President [Barack] Obama said that if the Iran nuclear program issue is sorted out, then the task of creating the European segment of the missile defense system will disappear,” Lavrov said at press conference in Vienna.
He said that Tehran and the P5+1 powers (the United States, the UK, France, Germany, Russia and China) have agreed on “joint all-inclusive plan of actions, which consists of the main document and five very detailed technical appendices.”

WNU Editor: He is saying this while knowing that the real reason why a missile defense system is being deployed in eastern Europe is to counter Russia .... not Iran. Such is diplomacy and public relations.

Like that' while ever happen .. :))
The Russian opposition to the missile shield is tiresome. Best to call the ambassador a shylock after detailing why a limited missile shield against a regional power, Iran is no threat to a great power like Russian that could easily overwhelm such a shield.
Calling the ambassador a shylock or some such name would be major breach of diplomatic protocol. But so many lies are being dished that ripping the scab or bandage off would be a vast improvement of all the lies that are being allowed to fester.
The missile shield in the Czech Republic is no different than the one in Alaska. Maybe it could handle 1 to 20 missiles. It is no threat to Russia. It is a threat to Iranian nuclear blackmail.
That Russia wants Europe/NATO by extension the U.S. be subject to Iranian nuclear blackmail means they do not give a crap about us.
So call a spade a spade and tell the Russian autocrats to bugger off.
With the deal Iran is signalling its' intention to be friendly (fat chance) in which case a shield would not be needed.
Of course they could cheat and the treaty signing is a head fake.
The controls in the treaty might not be sufficient to detect cheating.
Caps and lims remain the same IMO, intentions could turn on a dime. Military planners have to consider caps and lim not intentions.
