Reuters: Iraq deploys U.S.-trained troops to Ramadi fight for first time
Iraq has for the first time deployed soldiers trained by the U.S.-led coalition in their campaign to retake the city of Ramadi from Islamic State militants, the U.S. military said on Thursday.
The disclosure came during an unannounced visit by U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter to Baghdad, where he met Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and underscored the need for capable Iraqi ground forces to battle back Islamic State.
"We’re making some progress. We need to make more," Carter told U.S. troops gathered at Baghdad airport.

Why is the US disclosing this information? Are politics and PR that more important than keeping military strategy secret from the enemy?
Now Turkey and Jordan have entered into cross border operations, this would assume active Israeli involvement especially in Jordan's case. Turkey has finally decided that ISIS has become too much of a domestic threat and will also use this as a cover to go after various Kurdish organizations. Jordan has decided that ISIS et al have come too close physically and combined with worries of internal subversion have decided to put them at military arm's length.
All of this can be looked at many different ways, real fear of ISIS on Turkey's, Jordan's, and Israels part, a deal that was worked out with US urging that amounts to PR "we're doing something" distraction from the Iranian deal, or something quite different. With the region's massive realignments of alliances and interests, the continuing public success of ISIS, and the obviously ad hoc nature of US policy it becoming necessary for a program to identify anything with any surety.
The sudden disappearance of the Irani general Qasem is much more important than many suppose. He was either put on a leash by the Mullahs to ease the negotiations, or as I believe removed from the public eye for the failures in Iraq, Syria, and apparently now Yemen. On a side note it is believed his replacement for the Syrian theater has been killed by ISIS. Also there have been rumblings (some quite public) by the IRG which have quieted lately after some moves by the mullahs themselves.
Now comes the question for Iran. All of their initiatives have either stalled or are failing. Will the windfall of money coming from the removal of sanctions come quick enough to save them or will they be used very differently. To those who claim Iran will use this boon on domestic programs please save your and my time, yes of course they will, but only enough to stay in power, the rest to the military and foreign adventures.
As for ISIS, they will survive and grow. The so called allied offensives are failing and have revealed the lack of ability in the areas armed forces (not to mention subversion of their security apparatus). It must be noted that the Turkish, Jordanian, and Israeli moves are defensive in nature. Since the 1100's the center of power, culture, government in the arab world has been Egypt (Cairo) where it moved after the destruction of Baghdad by the Mongols, there it remains and it is there that the battle is joined with ISIS.
