Wall Street Journal: U.A.E. Says 22 Military Personnel Killed Since Joining Saudi-led Coalition
Men died as part of bid to defeat Iran-backed rebels in Yemen, military officials said
The United Arab Emirates has lost 22 military personnel since it joined a Saudi Arabia-led coalition to defeat Iran-backed rebels in Yemen, military officials said Friday, as the battle widens from an air campaign to fighting on the ground.
The men died while “performing their national duty,” officials from the U.A.E.’s military headquarters said, in a statement on state-controlled news agency WAM. It didn’t disclose how the soldiers had died; nor when or where the deaths occurred.
