New York Times: Germany Announces Emergency Border Controls Amid Migrant Crisis

VIENNA — Germany announced on Sunday that it was invoking emergency powers to start protecting its borders, seemingly reaching a point of overload after greeting with open arms tens of thousands of migrants pouring into Europe, and urging other European nations to do the same.

At a news conference Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière said that Germany would reinstate controls at its southern border with Austria, after thousands of migrants have entered the country in recent weeks.

The announcement followed a meeting to discuss the refugee crisis, after the flood of people from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and other troubled areas into Munich and other Eastern German cities continued unabated for the second weekend in a row.

WNU Editor: I guess the German government has finally realized that the potential of tens of millions of refugees at their border will destroy Germany as it is known. Unfortunately .... it is too late ... and even though many in Germany are now realizing that a lot of these migrants/refugees are not even from war-zones .... Refugees pose as Syrians to open door to asylum in Europe (WSJ) .... the perception in the world .... even among my many friends in the world .... is that Germany has opened its country to unrestricted immigration and that new arrivals will be welcomed with open arms. Wow .... a lot of people are going to be surprised when they realize that this is not exactly the case and that pictures (like the one above) is not exactly telling the truth.

My talked about the US and China relative to military strength. He envisioned a day when the Chinese would invade the US with fifty million troops and then they would all surrender and proceed to eat the country out of house and home.

I thought destroying Germany as it is known was the whole point. There was a lot of talk in certain quarters about how the refugees are actually a good thing because they will make it possible to create a new and more cosmopolitan Germany. Well, that's one way of spinning it.

I live in sweden and it is the same politics here as in germany. The political situation is quite tense and far right party swedish democrats are now biggest party among men and has an overall support about 20 %. Ten years ago it had almost zero per cent. So it is now days a very divided country and also a very segregated country (especially in the big cities)
