Moldova Ends All Military Relations With Russia

Sputnik: Not Talking to You Anymore: Moldova Ends All Military Relations With Russia

Moldova's Ministry of Defense ended all formal diplomatic relations with a Russian military attaché in Chisinau, Moldovan state-run radio TRM reported, according to Regnum News Agency.

The reason behind such a radical move was the presence of the Russian attaché at a military parade in Tiraspol that marked the 25th anniversary of Transnistrian independence, Moldovan Defense Minister Anatoliy Salaru told TRM.

The minister said that Chisinau considers the incident as an "unfriendly step" on behalf of Russia and thus Moldova decided to end all military relations with Russia.

Earlier Regnum reported that an unnamed representative from the Russian embassy in Moldova was called into Moldova's Foreign Affairs Ministry to explain the actions of the Russian military attaché in Tiraspol.

WNU Editor: The territory of Transdniestria has always been a "sore spot" for Moldova, Ukraine, and Russia. Coupled this with the current deep unrest in Moldova itself .... Protests In Moldova Over Massive Bank Fraud .... it does not take much for one country to express its disapproval.
