Russian Human Rights Council: Russian Soldiers Fear Going To Syria

A Russian mortar team: It is not clear how many are going to Syria

BBC: Russian troops 'fear secret Syria mission'

A top Russian human rights body says it has been contacted by Russian soldiers who fear being sent to fight in Syria.

The presidential Human Rights Council told BBC Russian that it was seeking an explanation from the Russian military.

Officers reportedly told some soldiers that they would be sent to fight "in a hot country". Russia has sent military hardware to Syrian government forces.

Separately, a top Russian security official said nearly 2,400 Russians had joined Islamic State (IS) fighters.

WNU Editor: The Russian government is very sensitive about these reports .... even denying these soldier's fears in the following TASS report ...

.... According to Peskov, Russia’s presidential council for civil society and human rights has received no appeals from Russia’s troops who do not want to go to Syria. "At least, the council for human rights has not reported about this," Peskov told reporters, commenting on the report of the Gazeta.ru news portal.

From what I see on Russian social media .... not much talk on this subject but it is growing. But with the Russian Presidential spokesman stating today that Russia will consider a Syrian request of sending soldiers, I expect Russian social media will be exploding over the weekend.
